Success, inequality and disadvantage of BME students: what is to be done?

Pilkington, A. (2012) Success, inequality and disadvantage of BME students: what is to be done? Invited Keynote presented to: Student Retention and Achievement in Higher Education: Success, Inequality and Disadvantage, De Montfort University, 01 November 2012. (Unpublished)

Item Type: Conference or Workshop Item (Invited Keynote)
Abstract: The presentation seeks to draw lessons from the limited progress in advancing a race equality agenda following publication of the Maccpherson report. At a time when equality and diversity generally has fallen down the agenda, the question arises as to how best to expedite radical change. The presentation explores possible ways in which funding and enforcement bodies can facilitate change and also the possibilities for internally generated pressures to have an impact.
