Abstract: | The most practically useful arrangement for making Electrochemical Noise Measurements is NOCS. Previously reported work using NOCS suggested that the arrangement had somewhat increased sensitivity to error (drift, spikes etc) in the value of noise resistance (Rn) that was calculated. The current work looked to address this by using an improved data analysis approach using a drift removal programme. Also Rsn (spectral noise resistance at 0.002Hz) has been calculated using either the MEM or FFT methods and compared with (Rn)To investigate possible ambiguity arising from interrogating three separate areas, samples with known values of resistance (high, medium and low) were joined in combinations and Rn measured. It was found that the cell connected to the reference input tended to dominate ie potential noise prevails over current noise. With some refinement, the NOCS method should soon be a practical method for field application. |
