Abstract: | How can we break out of the Kantian universe? Engaging with the recent and influential perspective of speculative realism as developed by Quentin Meillassoux and others, the chapter affirms the centrality of Hegelian philosophy for developing an alternative post-Kantian approach to questions of science, knowledge and the Real. It is argued that what Meillassoux identifies as the Kantian (and horizonal) problem of correlationism in the modern philosophical imagination is something that can only be effectively transcended through the speculative thought of Hegel. |
