Abstract: | This paper shows how particular forms of formative familial experiences provide prospective teachers with the intellectual tools necessary for undertaking critical analyses of both the received and intended curriculum. Data from a multiple case study shows that beliefs formed through early mathematical experiences stay with individuals to reveal themselves in subsequent beliefs and practice. |
