In early September 2011 Susan Bailey Principal Lecturer and Field Chair for Information Sciences and her colleague Senior Lecturer Carole Morrell were invited to the Technological University of Chile - INACAP by Chancellor Gonzalo Vargas and the Dean of International Relations Joaquin Valenzuela. INACAP is the largest university in Chile catering for 105,000 students across 25 campuses , they have 11,000 IT students. The visit was to deliver a presentation on the implementation of Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA ) across INACAP's IT degree provision and to provide workshop support for the pedagogical process in relation to SFIA. A comprehensive workshop for the faculty and administration team, involved in the SFIA implementation process was facilitated. This included the practicalities of embedding SFIA in the curriculum. They were able to draw comparisons between the two university processes and suggest enhancements and make recommendations oriented to teacher training, assessment strategies, and skill evaluation. INACAP have been redesigning their IT programmes for the past year All parties made visits to the UK to investigate how SFIA was being utilised by UK universities. The Information Sciences team have been aligning and embedding SFIA into the curriculum since 200 and were the first university in the UK to achieve this. Susan sits on the SFIA council.
