Abstract:
The growing demands in IT services for improving efficiency, quality at low cost to handle complex compute requirements has led to the integration of High performance computing (HPC) systems and cloud infrastructure in data centers. Earlier, HPC systems were limited to academic and research institutions and engineering laboratories. However, the emergence of cloud infrastructures and their successful implementation in different areas of application usage including manufacturing, industries, etc. has motivated the integration of HPC systems. Thus, provide multiple benefits for scientific, industrial and enterprise organizations. This paper explores the architectures of HPC and cloud services in data centers and highlights the benefits of integrating these architectures. For example, applications related to environmental monitoring, climate change research, etc. can be handled in HPC systems available in cloud architectures with ease. In addition to the overall benefits, the integration of architectures offers unlimited computing and storage resources to handle more complex workloads. In this paper, these paradigms are discussed and their advantages highlighted.
