Shadrack, J. H. (2013) Requiem di Mozart Fusione: a Metal Interpretation. Performance at: Requiem di Mozart Fusione Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Northampton, 08 June 2013.

Item Type: Performance
Abstract: June 8th 2013 at Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Northampton. The Popular Music department's chamber Choir and band, alongside Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust's string quartet performed Mozart's Requiem Mass in D minor at one of the only round churches left in the UK. The 900 year old setting made the perfect context for Mozart's heart-wrenching mass to be performed. The score, whilst original for the SATB choir and the string quartet, was reworked for contemporary instruments such as electric guitar and bass and a death metal drummer. The band fulfilled some of the harmony and melody motifs alongside playing all the woodwind parts on contemporary instruments. This was a sold out event and marked the genesis of not only my chamber choir, but of the end of year performances.
