Item Type: Conference or Workshop Item (Paper)
Abstract: We report the initial findings of an expedition into the Southern Namib Sand Sea where we have established a meteorological station, conducted topographic and GPR surveys of two linear dunes and collected samples for OSL dating. The GPR surveys, which amounted to 1.4 km, cross one linear dune with profiles providing serial sections across the southern end of another. The data quality is very good and provides new insights into the linear dunes of the Southern Namib Sand Sea which we compare with profiles across linear dunes from the northern end of the Sand Sea.
