Abstract:
The purpose of this presentation is to outline and discuss the use of marking with Blackboard rubrics and present some real life case studies where rubrics have been used to augment and enhance the marking process.
In this presentation the following areas will be discussed;
What are rubrics?
Why are they good idea?
How have they been used in practice?
What have been the challenges in implementing and using Blackboard rubrics?
We will present a series of case studies from the subject fields of Media Production and Marketing. Each case study concentrates on the use of rubrics to teach, and to assess different types of media: videos; essays; reflective and group blogs; and presentations. Each study approaches the marking process differently. Some academics have used rubrics in conjunction with the built-in Blackboard tools, such as blogs and assignments, whereas some have used the rubric tool in conjunction with other Blackboard integrated systems, such as Kaltura and Turnitin.
