A morphometric comparison of the Namib and Kalahari dunefields using ASTER GDEM data

Moran, L., White, K., Bullard, J. and Livingstone, I. (2013) A morphometric comparison of the Namib and Kalahari dunefields using ASTER GDEM data. Paper presented to: 19th Windy Day, Southampton, 23 October 2013. (Unpublished)

Item Type: Conference or Workshop Item (Paper)
Abstract: This project applies the method of Bullard et al. (2011) to the Kalahari dunefield and compares the results to those of the Namib Sand Sea in order to test whether the relationships found in an active sand sea also hold for palaeo-dunefields (ancient sand seas now stabilised by vegetation cover) such as the nearby Kalahari dunefield which was active during the last Glacial Maximum (LGM) 20,000 years ago.
