Abstract: It is always daunting, when as academics, we have to design a new programme; this becomes even more challenging when designing higher education classes for a prison. Recently, blended learning and the inclusion of technology, have become essential in the learning process. Therefore, going inside required a different kind of planning. This paper is based on a pilot project which collected information about the entire process; from the wider conceptual questions of what to teach, to more routine issues around the delivery and including an evaluation of the pilot from the learners. The pilot was intended as an introduction of the educational processes that would be necessary for developing a module for the upcoming academic year. In that spirit the pilot observed and tested a number of the procedures that will be followed in the module subsequently; including the selection process as well as the introduction of the participants and the introduction of the location. Most importantly the pilot provided a set of data that contains the reflections of two groups: teachers and learners. This was invaluable when considering three factors: location, population and interactions. The main principles reflected by the learners were respect, equality and diversity.
