Abstract:
Arguably, some of the key challenges in Learning Development are how students can effectively access support and how records and reports can be generated. Learning Development teams need to provide clear evidence and information regarding the students who access support and more importantly those who do not. This information is essential in supporting effective and viable research in the Learning Development field.
This presentation will show how the University of Northampton Learning Development team (The Centre for Achievement and Performance or “CfAP”) is working collaboratively with the Application Support Team within IT at the University of Northampton to create an effective appointment and reporting system.
This paper will also demonstrate
- the positive impact of the system upon the student experience,
- how students anywhere in the world can book appointments (carried out via telephone, skype and in person),
- how staff, within CfAP, are able to share information,
Further discussion will demonstrate how the system has allowed CfAP to be proactive in meeting the needs of the students and how this has positively impacted the research of CfAP. Finally, a demonstration of the system will allow the audience to learn about the system and learn from the develop experiences whilst creating and managing the system.
