Abstract:
Existing models of dance analysis and critical theory function poorly when applied to works in the area of dance and performance technologies. In this presentation I propose a new theoretical framework for 20th and 21st century dance theory alongside an amendment to dance analysis methodologies. The frame work and analysis will be demonstrated with historical and contemporary examples. One notable feature of the analytical methodology is the ability to visualise the analysis with a simple matrix, the use of which will also be explained.
