Abstract:
My commentary provides a response to Dr Richard Remedios's introductory paper to this Open Dialogue titled "Why are you still talking about Maslow? Spotting the academic charlatans in the Psychology of Education." In my response I argue that Maslow's ideas still have relevance and value as a foundation to contemporary motivational theory, and that people's familiarity with it is an opportunity to promote engagement with the discipline of psychology and facilitate beneficial applications in education.
