Abstract:
Since his arrival on the UK stage in 2003 with his first play, the political satire, ‘Early Morning’, Dipo Agboluaje has written over 20 plays. ‘The Wish Collector', in Class Acts: New Plays for Children to Act, The Hounding of David Oluwale, The Christ of Coldharbour Lane, and The Estate have been published and among many others, staged in the UK and Germany. An appraisal of his plays including ’Early Morning’, ‘British-ish’, ‘Captain Britain’, ‘The Road Taken’ and ‘Knock Against My Heart’ reveals a dramaturgy that subsumes centrifugal relationships and binaries, in other words, the us-them and ‘two worlds’ (Sierz, 2006) of postcolonial otherness in a concept of dialogic centrism
