Abstract:
This paper presents qualitative understandings of meanings of care from the perspectives of people with dementia and their informal/ family carers. Findings suggest that both people with dementia and their carers associate care with continuity, strong relationships, warmth and personhood. Flexible, familiar and proactive care can transform the quality of relationships experienced in the family.
