Abstract:
Regional and Country Offices (COs) who reported initiatives in this area in their 2010 Annual Reports were requested to share with their UNICEF HQ colleagues that information and documentation relating to their programmes in the field of ECVAN. 13 COs provided information by sharing relevant programme documents and reports regarding ECVAN for this assignment. A matrix analysis of each of the sample countries are contained in Appendices 2 and 3. Additional data supporting aspects of this matrix analysis were obtained from three secondary sources of information. These comprised (a) generic reports regarding ECD issues, which may refer to aspects tangential to ECVAN; such reports were either obtained directly from UNICEF or identified during a purposive trawl of the internet (b) information from the literature review which made direct reference to actions in named countries and regions and (c) information from the review of indicative organisations focussing on ECVAN work operating in non-sample countries. It is important to recognise that these data have been utilised only as a means of providing supporting evidence for observations made regarding the country reports supplied by UNICEF.
