Abstract:	This paper examines the impact of curriculum resources which were developed as part of a Heritage Lottery funded project entitled Shaping the Future. The purpose of the project was to promote the teaching of Black History in schools in Northamptonshire, an English county which has a predominantly white population. The study is based on the premise that Black History relates to a contested relationship between Nationalism and an inclusive approach to understanding the past. The research considers teacher perceptions of the resources, Black History and diversity in the context of the history curriculum.
