Abstract: This article attempts to unpack the difficulties and insecurities that come with a journey of reflexivity in research. These insecurities may be especially discernable when approaching a community which is perceived as being culturally different from our own. This paper details my own journey of cultural ‘discovery’ and reflexivity through an interview with three South Asian female Learning Support Assistants. I will use examples from the interview to explore moments of intersubjective (dis)connection. In particular the interview provides the means to express my own moments of understanding about issues of cultural identity, being a white women and the intersectionality of ethnicity, gender and motherhood
