Abstract: Together with my colleague Sarah Black from Liverpool I was teaching a workshop symposium of the German Society for Dance Research (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tanzforschung)which was hosted by the faculty of Sports Science at the Technische University Munich. The title of the symposium was Tanz vermittelt - Tanz vermitteln (Dance Transmits -Transmitting Dance). Sarah was teaching the practical component of the workshop on how to develop a site specific choreography. The main focus of this part of the workshop was to provide the arts practitioner who wanted to create a site specific work with a tool box to approach a site. I provided a theoretical framework to facilitate the academic writing about practice as research in such a context. The workshop was very well attended and received an overwhelming positive response from its participants. Everybody found the materials presented extremely helpful for their own teaching, writing or arts practice
