Abstract:
I once took seven steps across a pond
and felt the pang of ice
strike in seven fractures. I stood
on the other side of a small miracle,
knowing the craze of my tread
would be absorbed by melting
and made invisible. Sometimes I think
my footsteps are still in the water.
